“For the first time since I’ve known him, he cried.”

I was sitting at the breakfast table having my morning cup of coffee and reading the paper when my husband walked in.  He had a strange look on his face and when he sat down and said nothing, not even a hello, I asked him if anything was wrong.

He said he had a dream that an old flame from the past had suddenly appeared at the front door.  He said the dream was so real that he could describe her outfit right down to the last detail.  And he said she had something important to tell him but although her lips were moving he couldn’t make out the words.

I asked who she was and he went on to explain their relationship.  I was a bit taken aback because Jeff and I never keep any secrets from one another.  At least I didn’t think so.  And seemingly out of the blue he was telling me about someone who had apparently played an important role in his life.

I asked him why he appeared so troubled.  After all, we had been married for over twenty years now, and the past is the past.  But he said something happened that he had to explain.

Jeff went on to tell me about a child she had that she gave up for adoption.  And he looked up at me and said the child was his.

I walked around the table and hugged him.  I asked him if he had ever seen his child, and he just shook his head.  For the first time since I’ve known Jeff, he cried.

We spoke about it for the next week or so, and then the unexpected occurred.  We received a letter from a young man named Charlton.  Incredibly, he explained how he was trying to find his birth father and was now convinced Jeff was the man.

Jeff has had dreams before that have alerted him to things to come but never anything quite like this.

“Her four year old had somehow disappeared and she couldn’t find him.”

I was ten or eleven at the time, and something happened that day that I will never forget.

I was with my friend Les walking to a local park for a pick up game of basketball when a woman rushed out of a nearby apartment building.  She was frantic and running here and there, all the while yelling, “Jimmy, Jimmy, where are you?”

We stopped and looked around, hoping we’d see the person she was looking for.  We went over to her and asked what was wrong and she said her four year old had somehow disappeared and she couldn’t find him.

At first we walked up and down the street looking in doorways, doing everything we could to find her little boy.  But then Les said he thought he knew where Jimmy was hiding.

He went over to the woman who was beside herself with fear and Les asked her if she had a friend in the building who Jimmy knew.  When the woman nodded, Les said with an air of certainty, that’s where he is, I’m sure.

The woman looked at him and rushed inside.  A few minutes later she came out of the building holding her son in her arms.  She rushed up to Les and gave him a big kiss on the cheek and asked how he knew.

Les shrugged and said he didn’t know why but he could see in his mind where her little boy was.

Les and I are still in touch after all these years.  He is a financial advisor and says his telepathic instincts help him understand his clients better as well as helping him predict the trends of the marketplace.

She replied,  “I don’t know how I know, but I know.”

I don’t know if any of you out there believe in ESP, but I do.

Let me relay something that happened to me a few weeks ago, and see if you are a believer as well.

I was strolling through the mall with my twelve-year-old niece who I had promised to take shopping that day.  Her birthday was approaching and she was very excited because she knew she could pick out her present.

We went into a few stores and I was starting to grow impatient because she didn’t like anything.  She can be a little picky and I didn’t want to spend hours searching for a gift.  So, I gently urged her to make a selection, but being a bit stubborn she wasn’t inclined to “just buy anything.”

Then it happened!

A man ran out of one of the stores and down the escalator just as we were going up.  He seemed panicked and then we saw why.  He was being pursued by two men from the store who were hollering that the man was a thief.

Once the man got to the bottom of the escalator he quickly ran into the garage.  It’s a huge indoor garage with many levels.  And the two men followed him in there.

After a moment, we decided to continue shopping, and we were hoping no one would get hurt.  About half an hour later, we happened to pass the two men who were coming out of the garage and it was evident they hadn’t captured the man.

As they walked by, my niece said she knew where the man was hiding.  One of the men heard her and said, what?  She said did you look on the roof?  When they pointed out that the man had run downstairs after they saw him in the garage, my niece said, “I’m sorry, but he’s up there.”

When they inquired how she knew, she replied,  “I don’t know how I know but I know.”  The two men looked at one another, said what the heck, and went back in the garage.  This time with a couple security guards.

Within ten minutes I felt a tap on my shoulder.  It was one of the men and he told us they captured the guy, and he was, indeed, up on the roof.

Well, my niece got a one hundred dollar gift certificate to use in any store of her choosing.  When I asked her how she knew, she said sometimes she gets a vision in her head; and this time she saw that man hiding behind one of the parked cars, and she could see the roof line behind him.

“Myra said his psychic predictions are rarely wrong, and she trusted his unique talents.”

Myra is a good friend of mine.  We have known each other since we met when our kids were in the same scout troop.

Myra would tell me about her son’s unusual gifts, and we both thought it was pretty funny because Jeremy was a little rascal, and he loved to play tricks on people.

In particular, he used to play tricks on his teachers.  As early as second grade, he would raise his hand and say something like, Mrs. Cranston, did you get your washer fixed?  Sure enough, her washer had broken down the day before.

By the time Jeremy was off to college, his psychic talents were quite evolved.  Myra would tell me how Jeremy would call her from school because he sensed she wasn’t feeling well or when the dog had temporarily run away.

In fact, he advised her where to look because he had a vision of their puppy hiding in a nearby yard.  And sure enough, there he was.  Myra said his psychic predictions are rarely wrong, and she trusted his unique talents.

He hadn’t seen my son, Jeff, in quite a while and one day Jeremy called out of the blue and advised Jeff to check on his bank account.  Well, you guessed it; someone had stolen Jeff’s identity and was starting to run up huge bills.  Jeremy’s call had come in the knick of time.

And one last item:  Jeremy is currently working in hedge funds where instinct and intuition play a huge role.  Myra tells me he is making a fortune.  I’m not the least bit surprised, and I’m so happy for him.
